Liverpool Secure Deal for Highly-Rated Colombian Prospect Samuel Martinez
Liverpool have officially confirmed the signing of one of South America’s brightest young talents, 17-year-old attacking midfielder Samuel Martinez.
The Merseyside club fought off interest from Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund to secure the Colombia youth international from Atlético Nacional in a deal worth around £750,000.

Scouts from Liverpool had closely monitored Martinez during the CONMEBOL Under-17 Championship in April, where Colombia lifted the trophy. Reliable sources Fabrizio Romano and Florian Plettenberg first signalled strong interest in May, and that momentum has now culminated in a formal agreement.
As announced on liverpoolfc.com, Martinez will remain with Atlético Nacional for the next 12 months due to FIFA regulations on international transfers for minors. He is expected to join Liverpool’s academy ahead of the 2027/28 season.
The teenager underwent a medical on Merseyside last weekend and has signed a five-year contract with the club. Atlético Nacional will receive a sell-on percentage on any future transfer.
