Bradley Barcola’s PSG exit looks increasingly inevitable — and Liverpool must act now
Bradley Barcola’s future at Paris Saint-Germain is unravelling fast. According to Mario Cortegana of The Athletic, the 23-year-old’s minutes could be severely restricted next season. Luis Enrique “only wants committed players,” and Barcola’s refusal to discuss a new contract has left him firmly in the coach’s bad books.
That stance changes the equation for Liverpool. The Reds are understood to have already agreed personal terms with the player’s camp. With Barcola’s position at PSG deteriorating, the path to Anfield is clearer than it has been all summer.
Why staying at PSG no longer makes sense
Barcola has drawn a clear line: no contract talks. Enrique’s reported intolerance for anything less than full commitment only hardens the situation. Limited game time would almost certainly erode the Frenchman’s transfer value. In that light, it is difficult to see a realistic scenario in which Barcola remains in Paris beyond this window.
The simultaneous departure of Yan Diomande to Real Madrid (a deal the Spanish club appear to have hijacked) further complicates PSG’s attacking options, but it does not change Barcola’s own stance. For the club, the rational move is now to extract maximum value while Liverpool’s interest remains concrete.
Liverpool cannot afford to hesitate
This is the moment for Liverpool to push. Testing PSG’s resolve in the hope of shaving £10–20m off the asking price risks dragging the saga into August. That approach is unnecessary and potentially costly.
The left-wing position remains a clear priority. Delaying a resolution here risks clogging other deals already in the pipeline. Arsenal’s reported interest in Vinicius Jr only adds urgency — if that move collapses, the Gunners could quickly turn their attention elsewhere.
Liverpool have been handed a clear opening. Pressing it now, rather than gambling on a late discount, is the smarter play. Last season already showed what happens when key positions are left unresolved for too long. The squad cannot afford a repeat.
The green light is there. It is time to move.
