Liverpool’s stance on Curtis Jones tested again as Inter return with €35m bid
Inter Milan are back in for Curtis Jones, testing Liverpool’s valuation a month after their opening offer was turned down.
The Nerazzurri, buoyed by their Serie A title and a quiet summer for several rivals who have changed managers, have already made one shrewd addition in John Stones, who joined as a free agent after leaving Manchester City. Attention has now turned to midfield reinforcement, with Jones firmly in their sights.
Inter’s first approach in late June — a €25m bid — was rejected, with Liverpool holding out for a figure closer to €40m. The gap looked decisive at the time and talks went quiet. An improved €35m offer has now been tabled, according to James Horncastle of The Athletic.
With only one year left on Jones’s contract, Liverpool face a clear decision. Accepting a substantial fee this summer would bring in funds and avoid the risk of losing him for nothing next year. Jones himself could still choose to stay, play out the final year of his deal and test the market as a free agent with wider options.
The coming weeks will be decisive for both clubs as they finalise their squads for the new season.
