The Liverpool football community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of passionate supporter and FA referee Brandon Grimes, who has tragically died in a hit-and-run incident in Florida at just 26 years old.
Brandon, who was from Seaham in County Durham, had travelled to Florida on holiday with a friend when the devastating incident occurred on September 25.
His sudden death has left his family, partner, friends and everyone who knew him struggling to come to terms with what has happened.
According to his family, Brandon was a “gentle, bright, funny, and wonderful soul” who brought happiness and love to the people around him. His passing has reportedly left his loved ones devastated as they try to understand the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
His partner, David Jackson, said the family currently have “more questions than answers” as they seek information about exactly what happened.
David also revealed that Brandon had attempted to contact him shortly before his death, adding another heartbreaking detail to an already devastating situation.
Brandon was much more than a football supporter. He was a passionate Liverpool and England fan and also served as an FA referee, making football an important part of his life.
David said the couple had been together since February and had already begun making plans for their future together.
Sadly, those plans have now been shattered.
Brandon’s family are currently working to bring his body home to the United Kingdom and have launched a GoFundMe appeal to help cover the significant costs involved in repatriating him from Florida.
They are also seeking the assistance of an international funeral director who can help with the arrangements and ensure Brandon can be brought home to his family.
News of Brandon’s death has deeply saddened Liverpool supporters, with fans sharing tributes and messages of sympathy for his loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
