Liverpool could be handed a major opportunity to bring academy graduate Jarell Quansah back to Anfield in 2027, with several European giants reportedly monitoring the Bayer Leverkusen defender.
According to transfer journalist Florian Plettenberg, Quansah could leave Leverkusen next summer, with Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool all showing interest in the England international. Real Madrid are also reportedly keeping a close eye on his progress.
Liverpool may have a significant advantage in the potential transfer race. The Reds reportedly hold a €70 million buy-back clause for Quansah, which can be activated until June 15, 2027.
That clause could prove crucial if Liverpool decide they want to re-sign their former academy player. Should Quansah leave during the first two weeks of the summer transfer window, the €70m clause could effectively set the price for his return.
However, if Liverpool do not activate the clause before the deadline, Leverkusen could demand a considerably higher transfer fee for the defender.
Quansah has continued to develop since leaving Liverpool, establishing himself at Bayer Leverkusen and earning international recognition with England. His progress has now attracted attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
For Liverpool, the situation could present an interesting decision. The club would have to determine whether Quansah has developed enough to return and compete for a regular starting place at Anfield — while also facing competition from Chelsea, Arsenal and potentially Real Madrid.
With his buy-back clause expiring in June 2027, the coming months could be crucial in determining where Quansah’s future lies.
