Liverpool legend Emile Heskey has added his voice to the growing discussion surrounding a possible return to Anfield for Trent Alexander-Arnold, insisting the former Reds vice-captain would receive a warm welcome from the majority of supporters.

The former Liverpool striker believes bringing the England international back to Merseyside could benefit both the player and the club, particularly given Liverpool’s current need for creativity and quality at right-back.

Heskey has now become the second former Liverpool star, following Jamie Carragher, to publicly support the idea of Alexander-Arnold returning to his boyhood club.

Heskey Wants Liverpool to Welcome Trent Back

Speaking to BestBettingSites about the possibility of Alexander-Arnold rejoining Liverpool, Heskey made it clear that he would love to see the defender back at Anfield.

He also acknowledged that some supporters might still feel disappointed about the circumstances surrounding the player’s departure on a free transfer.

However, Heskey believes the focus should be on what Alexander-Arnold achieved during his time at Liverpool rather than allowing past disagreements to prevent a possible reunion.

He said:

“I would love Trent to come back. Whether he would, I’m not sure. Obviously with Trent, it’ll be about him and his people deciding whether they want to come back to Liverpool.”

Heskey added that the majority of Liverpool supporters would be happy to welcome the defender back, encouraging fans to remember his contribution to the club.

Carragher Also Supports a Possible Anfield Reunion

Heskey’s comments follow similar remarks from Jamie Carragher, who has also expressed his support for a potential Alexander-Arnold return.

Carragher believes Liverpool have missed the defender’s exceptional passing range and creativity since his departure.

Although he praised Ronald Araujo’s performances, the former Liverpool defender suggested that the team still lacks the kind of attacking distribution Alexander-Arnold regularly provided from the right side of defence.

Speaking on The Overlap Fan Debate, Carragher explained that Liverpool’s problems at full-back make the possibility of bringing Trent back an interesting proposition.

He also suggested that the defender’s situation at Real Madrid could make a departure worth considering.

Could Trent Alexander-Arnold Really Return to Liverpool?

Alexander-Arnold’s reported difficulties in securing a regular starting position at Real Madrid have inevitably increased speculation about his future.

A return to Liverpool would certainly attract enormous attention, considering his history with the club and the influence he had during his years at Anfield.

However, there is currently no confirmation that Liverpool are negotiating a deal to bring him back. Any potential transfer would depend on the player’s intentions, Real Madrid’s position and Liverpool’s recruitment plans.

For now, Heskey and Carragher’s comments have added fresh fuel to the discussion.

Liverpool supporters will undoubtedly have mixed opinions, but one thing is clear: Alexander-Arnold’s creativity and ability to dictate play from right-back remain qualities that would be difficult to replace.
