Mohamed Salah shows true Liverpool colours after Arne Slot contract comments

Mohamed Salah has quite clearly shown his commitment to ensuring Liverpool compete for the Premier League title this season.

The 32-year-old has kicked off the 2024/25 campaign in fine form with six goals and five assists already to his name.

The Reds currently sit top the Premier League table with 15 points picked up from a possible 18, they also boast a 100 per cent winning record in the Champions League and are in the next round of the Carabao Cup.

Earlier this week, Liverpool beat Bologna 2-0 at Anfield with Salah assisting Alexis Mac Allister for the opener before sealing the win himself courtesy of a stunning long-range strike.

Though he is contributing to at least one goal every 90 minutes, his uncertain future is what’s dominating the headlines.

The Egypt international, like Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, sees his contract expire next summer though the man himself seemingly offered a very clear update back in September.

I had a good summer and had a long time to myself to try to stay positive because as you know it’s my last year at the club,” he admitted after the 3-0 win at Manchester United.

I just want to enjoy it and I don’t want to think about it. I feel like I’m free to play football and then we’ll see what happens next year.

Since that admission, talk surrounding a contract extension, which Salah wants, has not disappeared with Liverpool boss Arne Slot now regularly asked about contracts.

In comparison to Salah, though, the Dutchman did not offer a clear answer with it pretty obvious he is bored of answering those types of questions.

In his Friday press conference, he said: “Contracts?! (laughs) I was hoping in your last question that you didn’t use the word ‘contract’ because I was saying ‘Trent is doing like this and he is doing like this…’. It’s the same boring answer as always.

I could really understand if you ask me this once every two weeks but if you ask me this after two or three days again then you still get the same answer and people feel that I’m boring them! So, try it after the international break again.

Despite all that is going on in the background, Salah is clearly only focused on the present based on his latest social media message.

On his Instagram story, Salah shared a picture of himself in the gym, showing off his superb physique.

While plenty has and will continue to be said about his future, no one can question his commitment with it also clear he will have a major part to play in Slot’s first season.

From his eight starts this season, Salah has only not completed the full 90 minutes on one occasion with the winger in an excellent physical condition.
