Ex-Manchester United defender Gary Neville has questioned why Mohamed Salah wasn’t booked for an alleged dive during Liverpool’s showdown against Chelsea. The Reds were left incensed by an incident shortly before the opening goal after Levi Colwill tangled with the Egyptian.
Salah found himself in space on the flank and got the better of the Londoners’ defender, initially the centre-back looked to drag the Liverpool attacker down, but he managed to wriggle free.
Play continued with Salah galloping into the box before he was brought down, but referee John Brooks was not interested.
Head coach Arne Slot was booked for his protests but, moments later, Colwill was involved once more – only this time sending Curtis Jones to ground.
Salah stepped up and dispatched his penalty with confidence.However, the actions of the Liverpool record-breaker irked Neville, who questioned why he wasn’t booked for a supposed dive.

The decision quickly came and went as Liverpool were awarded a spot-kick minutes later, but the Anfield crowd made their disgruntlement heard towards the official. Salah looked in inspired form, against his former team, as he scored his fifth Premier League goal of the season, which could be his last as contract uncertainty swirls.
Sunday afternoon’s effort was the eighth in 22 appearances against the Stamford Bridge club. It was his first in the top-flight since their 2-2 draw in the capital back in 2023.
