Liverpool supporters were left begging Mohamed Salah’s agent to ensure his client signs a new deal with the club after he posted a rare statement on X on Monday afternoon.
Salah has just months remaining on a club record contract he signed in 2022 and can talk to clubs outside of England in January.
The Egyptian has been in fine form for Liverpool this season, scoring seven goals and recording six assists as the Reds have won all but one of their opening 11 games under new head coach Arne Slot.
Salah’s latest strike, from the penalty spot against Chelsea, puts him on 162 Premier League goals, level with Jermain Defoe as the ninth-highest scorer in the competition’s history.
He is just 13 goals behind legendary Arsenal forward Thierry Henry and 15 behind Chelsea hero Frank Lampard. Salah is also Liverpool’s fifth-highest goal scorer of all time, on 218.
Ramy Abbas Issa doesn’t post often but broke his silence to state: “When I say that a footballer that played decades ago was better than one playing today despite it obviously not being the case, I just feel so sophisticated and well read.
It’s not clear who or what he was referring to, but Liverpool supporters clearly thought it was his own client and responded in their hundreds to ask him to sign a new deal at Anfield.
One stated: “Ramy the story is not yet done. We need our Mo re signed to a new contract.”Another said: “Mo is the goat. he should finish off any arguments by topping the numbers charts with a couple more years.
While another responded: “Couldn’t agree more, when is Salah renewing? Salah is likely to be in Liverpool’s squad for the Champions League clash with RB Leipzig on Wednesday night.
