Arne Slot has made a surprise inclusion to his travelling squad against RB Leipzig. Liverpool are set to travel to Germany in their next game in the Champions League and will face a familiar foe.

The Reds have faced RB Leipzig in pre-season friendlies several times in the past and have even encountered the German side in the knock-out round of the Champions League during the 2020/21 campaign.

Not to mention current Liverpool stars like Dominik Szoboszlai and Ibrahima Konate have previously represented RB Leipzig prior to joining the club.Ahead of the game, Slot has picked a strong squad to travel to Leipzig, although with some notable omissions.

Arne Slot includes Harvey Davies in Liverpool squadAhead of the game, the club confirmed on its official website that there would be 21 players travelling to Germany.

The travelling squad is as follows: Gomez, Endo, Van Dijk, Konate, Diaz, Szoboszlai, Nunez, Mac Allister, Salah, Jones, Gakpo, Tsimikas, Robertson, Gravenberch, Jaros, Kelleher, Alexander-Arnold, Quansah, Morton, Davies, Nyoni.Undoubtedly, one of the most surprise inclusions on that list is Harvey Davies.

The goalkeeper spent last, season on loan at Crewe Alexandra and has made four appearances in all competitions for Liverpool’s U21 side this season.Clearly, with Alisson’s injury, he has earned a promotion as the club’s third choice which has seen him rewarded with a trip to Germany.

Who is Harvey Davies?Davies has been at Liverpool’s academy for a long time joining the club as an U9 player and working his way through the ranks. Since 2020 he has been with Liverpool’s U18 team before earning a promotion to the U21 side.

He has sat on the first team bench several times under Jurgen Klopp both in the Premier League and the domestic cup competitions. However, he is yet to make his debut for the club.

Alisson’s injury could have brought that closer. Although there is still the talented Vitezslav Jaros and Caoimhin Kelleher ahead of him in the pecking order.

So, it remains to be seen what the future holds for the goalkeeper, who turned 21 years old last month.
