Arsenal vs Aston Villa Town preview & lineup

Written by admin

Arsenal come into this game with Aston Villa as the hot favourites to land the win at the Emirates on Wednesday (4.30pm kick off).

The Gunners earned a battling 0-0 draw away at Manchester City at the weekend, their first dropped points in the Premier League in 2024, and it was enough for them to fall two points behind Liverpool in the table, but remain a point ahead of City who lie third.

Mikel Arteta’s team have been in outstanding form of late and even the draw with City was a very good result.

The Gunners have the best goal difference in the Premier League with +46, six better than league leaders Liverpool and 11 better than Man City in third.

They have scored 23 goals in their last six Premier League games and conceded just two in that period and their only defeats in 2024 have come in cup games.Aston villa inability to hang on to leads has cost them dearly in a number of games of late.

They have conceded late winners for their opponents in three of their last four away games (at Villa, Bournemouth and this past weekend when they went down 2-1 to Spurs due to Son’s 86th minute strike).

Had the Hatters managed to claim a point in any of those games, then they’d be out of the drop zone ahead of Nottingham Forest who lie above them on goal difference.

Rob Edwards team do tend to score goals, scoring in all their last 14 games in all competitions, but they also do concede plenty too.

They gave Arsenal a real fight at Kenilworth Road when the teams last met in the league, but this is going to be a much tougher task at the Etihad against the title chasers.
