Giorgi Mamardashvili is set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering a thigh injury during Valencia’s 1-0 defeat to Rayo Vallecano last weekend.
The 24-year-old, an ever-present in La Liga this season, completed the full 90 minutes but required treatment on the pitch.
After undergoing medical tests, Valencia confirmed the injury to the rectus femoris of his right leg but have not provided a timeline for his return.
A club statement read: “Mamardashvili has been diagnosed with an injury to the rectus femoris of his right leg, sustained in the match against Rayo Vallecano at Mestalla.
“The club’s medical services have decided that the goalkeeper will continue with medical treatment and physiotherapy at the Ciudad Deportiva.”
Mamardashvili, who is set to join Liverpool at the end of the season following a £29m deal agreed last summer, will continue his recovery with medical treatment and physiotherapy at the club’s training facility.
The Georgia international’s injury comes as a setback for Valencia, but his future move to Liverpool remains unaffected.
