Liverpool offer Trent Alexander-Arnold astronomical contract to snub Real Madrid as details of stunning deal leaked

The Liverpool right-back has already been the subject of interest from Real Madrid.
Liverpool have reportedly offered Trent Alexander-Arnold a huge amount of money to sign a new deal at the club.

Alexander-Arnold, 26, is one of three Liverpool players – alongside Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk – who are set to see their current contracts expire in June 2025.

On December 31, The Times’ Paul Joyce revealed that the Reds rejected an approach from Madrid to sign the right-back.

Madrid “made contact” with Liverpool, but their interest in the player was “immediately rebuffed” on Tuesday.

The report also explained how Liverpool and Alexander-Arnold’s representatives have been in talks about a new deal for several months.

Now, the Mirror reports that the Premier League leaders have “offered Trent Alexander-Arnold” a contract worth “£78m” spread over a “five-year” period in order to try and tempt him to stay at Anfield.

There is thought to be a similar “£300,000 per week offer” available from Madrid but he could pocket a huge signing on fee as he would likely join as free transfer.

Madrid even put forward £20m to sign the player in the January transfer window but this was seen as a “non negotiable” for Liverpool with the side currently in the midst of a title race.

The report also suggests there has been no demand for the captain’s armband from Alexander-Arnold contrary to some reports suggesting that this was part of his proposed terms.

Of course, this will no doubt be seen as progress by the Liverpool faithful who will be hoping their homegrown star will stay at the club.
