Arsenal Eye Alexander Isak as First Steps Taken Ahead of Star Transfer Audition”
Newcastle may have signaled a willingness to part ways with Arsenal target Alexander Isak by showing interest in another striker, Jonathan David, who delivered an impressive performance against Liverpool this week.
Arsenal, who have long been linked with Isak, are reportedly eager to secure the 25-year-old Swedish forward to address their recent struggles in front of goal, exacerbated by injuries to key attackers. Isak, in stellar form with 15 Premier League goals this season, remains a vital player for Newcastle, with the Magpies reportedly valuing him at over £115 million.
However, Arsenal’s hopes may have received a boost. According to The Chronicle, Newcastle have made their first move for Lille striker Jonathan David, whose contract expires at the end of the season. A high-ranking Newcastle representative was reportedly present at Lille’s recent 2-1 win over Nice, signaling serious interest in the Canadian international.
David, who scored against Liverpool in the Champions League, showcased his ability to perform against top Premier League opposition. Speaking about his future, the 25-year-old said: “The Premier League is one of the best leagues in the world, but it’s not Premier League or bust for me. I’m open to challenges in any league.”
It remains unclear whether Newcastle see David as a potential replacement for Isak or as a partner in their attack. However, adding David to their squad could reduce their reliance on Isak, potentially making them more open to selling the Swedish star to Arsenal if the price is right.
