Liverpool have reportedly offered €50million for the transfer of Lille defender Leny Yoro, but the bid has been rejected as the Ligue 1 club hold out for more like €60m.
Yoro is considered an elite young talent and it looks like there’ll be plenty of other clubs in the race for his signature this summer, with Liverpool trying their luck with a bid but with the likes of Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid also chasing him, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The report adds that Yoro’s preference also seems to be Real Madrid, so it might be difficult for Liverpool to persuade the young Frenchman to join them even if they do manage to agree a fee with Lille.
Still only 18 years of age, Yoro looks like he has a big future in the game and it will be interesting to see where he ends up next, though it’s easy to imagine him being the latest young star to join this exciting Real Madrid project.
Yoro transfer ideal for Real MadridLos Blancos have just won the Champions League yet again after some smart work in the transfer market in recent times, with the Spanish giants building around top young players like Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Junior and Eduardo Camavinga.
Meanwhile, Endrick is also on his way to the Bernabeu this summer, so if Madrid could add someone like Yoro as well, they’ll be set up for many years to come.
Still, Liverpool would also surely do well to strengthen their defence with a long-term replacement for the ageing Virgil van Dijk, while Ibrahima Konate has not always been that reliable when it comes to staying fit and free of injuries.
A lot of top young players would surely jump at the chance to move to one of the Premier League’s top clubs, but it also becomes a different conversation once a big name like Real Madrid get involved.
