I think Trent’s performance was really bad to the point where a player shouldn’t allow himself to play like that. I expected him to show a level of play worthy of a right-back and to dominate against a club that has been Liverpool’s fiercest rival for years.
This was a derby, and it will always be a derby no matter the situation in the table, and when it’s a derby, you have to be at your best. He wasn’t today, not even close to his quality. His performance was poor.
When I saw the United lineup, I thought this would be a great match for Trent, but he showed the complete opposite. I thought he would have in mind all the negative comments people have been making about him recently, and that this game would serve to prove them wrong. He was awful defensively, and not much better going forward.
“I never had the chance to play in a Liverpool team like this. I wish I played for the best team in the league. Trent can win UCLs and league titles here. I never had that. It’s disappointing.”
Only he knows what’s in his head, but the fact is he was so poor in the first game after Real Madrid made an offer for him, and that tells me it definitely affected him!”
