Darwin Nunez’s future is back in the spotlight after a report from Saudi Arabia claimed Fenerbahce have approached Al-Hilal to sign the striker — and that the Saudi club are open to the deal.

The 26-year-old Uruguay international only left Liverpool in August, but the latest update suggests his time in Riyadh may not last long.
The claim, shared by Al Riyadh sources on X, states that Fenerbahce have requested to buy Nunez’s contract and that Al-Hilal have accepted the Turkish offer.
The timing is key, with Turkey’s transfer window still open until midnight on Friday, meaning there’s a late rush for paperwork and approvals.
From Liverpool’s perspective, the story is interesting because Nunez is already being linked with another move just months after Liverpool accepted an initial £46 million for him in August — a significant loss compared to the £85 million paid in 2022.
If the report is accurate, it could also point to Al-Hilal being ready to adjust their attacking options mid-season, especially after Karim Benzema’s arrival this week.
Fenerbahce have also been active late in the Turkish window, with reports suggesting they’ve explored ending Jhon Duran’s loan, while N’Golo Kante has arrived from Al-Ittihad.
Nunez himself has not publicly hinted at leaving. After Monday’s 0-0 draw with Al-Ahli, he posted on X that he was “focused and determined” in the title race, suggesting he is trying to stay committed.
However, his performances have been seen as inconsistent, and his SofaScore stats highlight why some feel the move has not fully worked out — particularly with the number of big chances missed.
This isn’t the first time a possible exit has been mentioned either. Two months ago, Argentine outlet Olé claimed Nunez wanted to leave and had even been offered to River Plate, although nothing developed beyond an initial contact.
There’s also still debate among Liverpool fans about what the club lost when he left, with Roddy Collins recently describing Nunez as a player who “caused chaos” off the bench — something some believe Liverpool have lacked at times this season.
For now, the link between Darwin Nunez and Fenerbahce remains a developing report rather than a confirmed transfer, but with Turkey’s deadline approaching, it’s a situation worth watching closely over the next couple of days
