Liverpool news

“Don’t overlook Liverpool…” – Transfer source shares fresh intel on Michael Olise’s situation.

Liverpool may find themselves in a chaotic three-way tussle to lure Michael Olise back to the Premier League.

A transfer insider has revealed a new update on the Bayern Munich winger, whom Lewis Steele flagged last month as a potential Anfield target for 2026.

Liverpool showing ‘strong interest’ in Olise

On Tuesday morning, Mark Brus of the Daily Briefing claimed that the 23-year-old is Liverpool’s top target to eventually succeed Mo Salah, although two major Premier League rivals are expected to challenge them for his signature.

Bayern Munich understandably want to hang onto Olise, but they could be tempted to reconsider if they receive what’s been described as “crazy offers.”

One source told Brus:
“Liverpool are still monitoring Olise closely; he’s their preferred option to replace Salah. Bayern want to keep him, but every player has a price, and they might consider selling if someone offers €130m–€140m (£114m–£123m).”

Another added:
“There’s genuine interest in Olise. Watch Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester United.”

Olise looks like the ideal Salah successor

While Liverpool supporters won’t relish thinking about a future without Salah, long-term planning for his replacement must begin soon, particularly with his deal ending in June 2027 and a departure seeming likely.

Antoine Semenyo has frequently been mentioned as a possible heir to the Egyptian, but Olise appears to be the standout option for the right wing.

The Frenchman has been outstanding for Bayern this season with nine goals and 10 assists in 18 appearances, including a remarkable five goal contributions in their 6–2 win over Freiburg.

His underlying numbers (from FBref) also place him among Europe’s elite wingers over the past year:

0.57 assists per 90 — 99th percentile

6.72 shot-creating actions — 99th percentile

7.2 progressive passes — 96th percentile

0.41 non-penalty xG — 95th percentile

3.66 shots — 95th percentile

2.57 successful take-ons — 93rd percentile

0.40 non-penalty goals — 88th percentile

On top of that, his previous experience with Crystal Palace shows he’s already used to the demands of the Premier League — something Florian Wirtz has reportedly struggled with since joining Liverpool in the summer.

Liverpool’s immediate priority may be adding a centre-back in January, but when it comes to planning for life after Salah, there may be no more suitable — and potentially achievable — option than Bayern’s number 17.
