I love what Mohamed Salah did after being taken off – it sends a message to Arne Slot

Salah was seen visibly annoyed at being taken off by Liverpool manager Arne Slot in Wednesday’s Champions League win over RB Leipzig.

Reds legend Mark Lawrenson says he has no problem with Mohamed Salah’s annoyed reaction at being substituted during Liverpool’s win over RB Leipzig on Wednesday, stating he “loves” that he was frustrated by his early exit.

Salah was taken off on 63 minutes during the contest. As he left the pitch, the winger shrugged his shoulders and cut a frustrated figure when shaking Arne Slot’s hand before slumping on the bench.

He was the first Liverpool player to be hooked, most likely with Sunday’s trip to Arsenal in mind.

Salah has already recorded seven goals and assists in 12 outings this season, and managed to set up Darwin Nunez’s winner at Leipzig before his substitution.

It was only the fifth game this season in which the Egyptian has failed to score.

Lawrenson says the player’s frustrated reaction in this week’s Champions League tie is a “good” thing. “He wants to play every single game.

Mo’s a goal scoring machine,” he told the ECHO, courtesy of Free Bets.“The thing with these strikers is if they don’t score, they don’t feel like they played.

And they’re all the same. All the ones I played against and played with, they are all the same.

They can be absolute rubbish in a game, but if they score, it’s like a different world for them. So I don’t have a problem with that whatsoever.

And I love the fact that when players get pulled off they get upset. I really seriously get it. Because you want to play all the games.

It is not the first time Salah has been seen irked on the touchline, having remonstrated with Jurgen Klopp during April’s 2-2 draw at West Ham when about to be brought on.

In the mixed zone after full-time, the winger remarked: “If I speak there will be fire”. Klopp later confirmed the matter had been resolved.
