Alexis Mac Allister has confirmed that at some point in his career, he would love to return to Argentina to play more football for one of his former sides — even though he can’t guarantee it will happen.
“I’d love to go back to Argentina,” the Liverpool midfielder said.
“But, well, I became a father, and you start prioritising a lot of things. Maybe it’s not so selfish to focus solely on what I want.
“But yes, I’d love to return to Argentinos Juniors because my dad and my brothers all grew up there, and we’re grateful. And then, obviously, to Boca at some point.”
Aged 27, Mac Allister is far from the end of a football career. Still, it remains to be seen where his future lies beyond Liverpool, with his current contract set to expire in just over two years
