Jeremie Frimpong reminded Ibrahima Konate that he had scored against the Frenchman, despite Liverpool’s comprehensive 4-0 Champions League victory over Bayer Leverkusen last season.
Frimpong, 24, was the first to bolster the Reds’ ranks this summer, making the switch from the Bundesliga outfit. He has since been joined by former Leverkusen colleague Florian Wirtz, plus the likes of Milos Kerkez and Hugo Ekitike.
A light-hearted moment between Wirtz and Frimpong was captured and shared across the club’s social media platforms. In the clip, as Konate enters to give the duo a bottle of water each, he couldn’t resist throwing in a playful jibe as he exited.

With a hint of smugness, Frimpong quickly retorted: “My friend. Keep going, keep going, bro. I scored, eh?”
Konate, taken aback, responded: “You what?”

After Frimpong reiterated his claim, the central defender recalled the scoreline, momentarily forgetting that the Dutchman did indeed hit the back of the net – albeit from an offside position. Although it didn’t stand, for Frimpong, it seemed to be a point of pride.
In their clash at Anfield last term, Slot’s side delivered a clinical second-half performance to decisively defeat the German team.
Luis Diaz put on a stellar performance, netting an impressive hat-trick in the second half, while Cody Gakpo also got on the scoresheet, as Liverpool swiftly took control of the match from then-manager Xabi Alonso, who has since moved to Real Madrid, on his Anfield return.
Naturally, their interaction was nothing more than friendly banter, and it’s highly likely that they’re already good mates.
