Liverpool might secure a £65 million Premier League talent due to a ‘gentleman’s agreement’.

Liverpool and Manchester United are both in the running to sign Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton for £60-65 million this summer, thanks to an informal ‘gentleman’s agreement’ with his current club.
The 22-year-old England international has impressed as one of the Premier League’s top young defensive midfielders through his strong showings for Palace. Despite a recent dip in form, he continues to attract attention from several elite clubs.
Although Wharton’s contract at Selhurst Park extends until 2029, Crystal Palace are keen to extend it and retain him long-term. However, reports indicate a gentleman’s agreement is in place: if no new contract is finalized, he could depart for a Champions League-qualified side in exchange for a fee in the £60-65 million range.
Liverpool view Wharton as a prime target to challenge Ryan Gravenberch for a starting spot in midfield, making him a high priority on their wishlist.
On the other side, Manchester United see him as a potential long-term successor to Casemiro, who is expected to depart at the end of the season, and they may push hard to land him this summer.
Both clubs are set to compete fiercely for his services if the agreement holds and a move materializes
