Liverpool defender approves one of Slot’s rules, while Sky expert criticizes it

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has expressed his support for a new rule introduced by head coach Arne Slot, which allows players to stay at home rather than in a hotel the night before matches at Anfield.

“It’s up to each player, but that’s the way things are now. Personally, I prefer sleeping in my own bed and being with my family, so it works out quite well. But what we did in the past also worked fine because we were very successful in terms of winning,” said Van Dijk.

However, not everyone agreed with this approach. Former Manchester United defender and Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville voiced his disapproval.

“We enjoyed it. We liked [staying in a hotel on Friday night]. It helped us switch off—everyone got a good night’s sleep, no issues with kids, no crying,” Neville said.
