Liverpool face concern as star reportedly demands massive new contract

Written by admin

Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai is reportedly seeking a substantial pay rise if he is to sign a new contract at Anfield.

The Hungarian international has been a key figure for Liverpool this season, and most fans would likely agree that he deserves a new, improved deal. Keeping him at the club would be crucial. However, Hungarian outlet Blikk claims Szoboszlai may now be demanding as much as £300,000 per week.

According to Anfield Watch, he currently earns around £120,000–£150,000 per week, which means he could more than double his wages under a new contract. While Liverpool will want to do everything possible to retain him, meeting such a high demand could prove challenging.

Anfield Watch also notes that a £300k-per-week deal would see Szoboszlai earn more than Alexander Isak. This might be justified given his exceptional performances this season, arguably surpassing Isak’s output. Still, it’s uncertain whether Szoboszlai has fully earned a place in that elite wage bracket, or if he’ll need to maintain this level of performance consistently over a longer period.

So far this season, Szoboszlai has contributed eight goals and six assists from midfield, matching his total goals from last term. At 25 years old, he appears to be reaching his peak and could potentially succeed at other top clubs.

Versatile in midfield and even capable of covering right-back when needed, Szoboszlai has proven to be a valuable asset for Arne Slot’s squad
