After losing last week’s first-leg 1-0 in Paris, the visitors levelled the tie on aggregate thanks to Ousmane Dembele’s 12th-minute goal.
The game went to extra-time before going to penalties, where PSG triumphed, winning 4-1.
Salah scored his side’s only spot-kick as Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones failed to convert their penalties.
After the result, Salah was reduced to tears as he acknowledged the Anfield crowd.
The 32-year-old cut a hugely emotional figure and Liverpool fans think it could be the end of his legendary spell amid his contract situation.
