Liverpool Recall Mohamed Salah to Squad vs Brighton After Slot Talks

Written by admin

Mohamed Salah is set to return to Liverpool’s squad to face Brighton tomorrow after positive talks with manager Arne Slot, GMS understands.

The legendary winger shocked everyone at the club last weekend when he came out to criticise Arne Slot and club chiefs following the 3-3 draw with Leeds United, where he claimed he had no relationship with the manager and that they had “thrown him under the bus”.

Salah was left out of the travelling squad for the midweek Champions League clash with Inter Milan, which the Reds won 1-0, and is set to head to AFCON with Egypt following this weekend’s clash against the Seagulls.

Slot Recalls Salah to Brighton Squad

Slot spoke to the media on Friday morning in his pre-match press conference, and addressed the issue, claiming that he would have a conversation with the forward before making a final decision.

“I will have a conversation with Mo this morning, and the outcome of that conversation determines how it will look tomorrow,” he said.

“What I need is a conversation with him, and I think the next time I speak about Mo should be with him and not in here. You can keep on trying, but there is not much more to say about it [other than] that I speak to him today and, like I said, the outcome of that conversation determines how things will look tomorrow.”

Now it has emerged that the decision has been made for the 33-year-old winger to be available for the game at Anfield, and Salah will head to the African Cup of Nations following the match with his future still far from certain.

Salah to Leave Liverpool in January?

Despite the reprieve for Salah it remains to be seen how heavily involved he will be on Saturday, and there are surely still going to be major conversations within the club about his long-term future at Anfield.

His current contract at the club is due to run until 2027, with reports suggesting Liverpool are hopeful of him seeing that out. However, GMS understands that Saudi dealmakers are still prepared to try and sign him in January, while there is also interest from clubs in MLS.

Liverpool are also said to be eyeing potential replacements too, with personal terms already agreed with Antoine Semenyo, but until a final decision is made then there is always room for reconciliation.

Salah is a club legend and will go down in history as one of the best to ever play for them, but his time at the club coming to an end in an ugly way still cannot be ruled out
