Mo Salah’s future at Liverpool has been thrown into uncertainty following his highly publicised outburst last weekend.

After being benched for a third straight match in the 3-3 draw with Leeds, the Egyptian told reporters he has “no relationship” with Arne Slot and accused people within the club of “throwing him under the bus” (Sky Sports).
The 33-year-old was then left out of the squad for Liverpool’s midweek win at Inter Milan. Journalist Henry Winter has suggested that Saturday’s home match against Brighton – Salah’s last before heading to AFCON – should mark the end of his time at the club.
How are Liverpool’s hierarchy responding?
The Athletic reported on Thursday that Liverpool have no desire to sell Salah. Senior figures point to his contract, which runs until 2027, and insist his recent omissions were only temporary.
They’re said to be shocked at how quickly the situation has deteriorated, but believe the next step is down to Salah. If he wants to leave, he must clearly state his intentions so the club can respond. However, if his hardline stance continues and no solution is found, the situation could become unworkable.
Is there still a way back for Salah?
Clarence Seedorf said on Prime Video Sport that the door remains open if Salah is willing to reconcile with Slot and take responsibility for his comments.
Whether the forward is prepared to make peace with the head coach may ultimately determine if his Liverpool career continues. AFCON gives him a chance to step away from the turmoil and refocus with Egypt, potentially cooling tensions before he returns.
Slot has hinted that it’s up to Salah to initiate reconciliation if he wants to regain his place in the team. Liverpool are ready to let him go if he believes the relationship has broken down beyond repair, but they remain hopeful he’ll apologise and avoid ending one of Anfield’s greatest careers on a sour note.
