Well-informed sources have shed some light on where Luis Enrique could be heading next season, amid growing links with Manchester United.

Enrique, regarded as one of Europe’s top managers after winning the Champions League with Barcelona in 2015 and PSG in 2025, has long been connected with a move to the Premier League.
The Spaniard has been mentioned as a possible replacement for Michael Carrick, who remains under contract at United until the end of the 2025/26 season, despite overseeing an improvement in the club’s performances since his arrival.
Replicating last season’s treble success was always going to be a tough task for Enrique, with PSG having lifted Ligue 1, the Coupe de France, and the Champions League. Although they remain a strong side, their form has dipped slightly this campaign, with Lens sitting just a point behind them in the league.
This raises the question of whether a fresh challenge could tempt Enrique away from Paris.
However, according to the i Paper, sources close to PSG insist that Enrique is expected to sign a new contract, extending his stay beyond his current 2027 deal, with the club fully backing his long-term vision.
The report adds that while Enrique is admired by United’s hierarchy and remains a leading candidate, Carrick is still the frontrunner for the job at present.
United CEO Omar Berrada and sporting director Jason Wilcox are said to be keen on Enrique, whereas INEOS reportedly favor sticking with Carrick.
Meanwhile, Enrique is also monitoring developments at Manchester City, particularly Pep Guardiola’s situation, as his contract runs until 2027.
Fluent in English, Enrique would adapt easily to English football and has previously expressed interest in working in the Premier League.
In a 2023 interview with Cadena Ser, he said he closely follows the league and would like to manage in England, though only at a club capable of achieving major success—admitting such opportunities are limited and highly competitive
