Liverpool were 1-0 victors against RB Leipzig this evening, with Mohamed Salah once again one of the stars of the show.
The Egyptian international assisted Darwin Nunez for the sole goal of the game as Salah gave Liverpool a consistent avenue to create danger against Leipzig, who gave a good account of themselves at the Red Bull Arena.
With Salah named in Troy Deeney’s Premier League Team of the Week after the forward’s performance for Liverpool against Chelsea on Sunday, the 32-year-old attacker is in top form under Arne Slot, with the Anfield no. 11 playing his part tonight in Germany.Yet Pat Nevin noted something about Salah when the winger was substituted for Liverpool.
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, the pundit shared how much Salah hates coming off for Liverpool, with Nevin noting how the forward loves being on the pitch even if the Egyptian needs the rest ahead of this weekend’s tie against Arsenal.
Nevin said when news filtered through that Salah was coming off first for Liverpool: “Mo Salah hates coming off, he hates it.
People will take it the wrong way, but he loves being on the pitch. It is the right thing to give him a rest.”Given how hectic Liverpool’s schedule is before the next international break next month, Slot made the right decision in bringing Salah off with 30 minutes to go, with the Reds going on to see out the win against Leipzig.
And with Salah doing his part in the game by assisting Nunez for the only goal of the game, the former AS Roma man won’t feel too upset about being the first Liverpool player to come off, with the winger impressive in Germany.
Liverpool made the right decision to bring off Salah early
Liverpool got the job done in Leipzig this evening even with the hosts putting in a good shift and getting unlucky by having two goals disallowed, with the Reds having their backs against the walls in some moments.
Yet as per Liverpool’s upcoming Premier League fixtures, the decision to bring Salah off early was a good call from Slot, with Arsenal next up for the Reds in what will be a huge Premier League title clash for the Anfield side.
With Salah’s legs being saved, the superstar winger could cause some real damage this Sunday for Liverpool against the Gunners, where another three points could put the Reds in the clear to challenge for the Premier League title.
