Mohamed Salah does the unthinkable and breaks remarkable Fantasy Premier League record with 10 Gameweeks still to go

With 10 Gameweeks to go, Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has broken the record for the most FPL points in a single season.

Salah took his Premier League tally to 27 on Saturday as Arne Slot’s side moved 16 points clear of title rivals Arsenal with a hard-fought 3-1 win over rock bottom Southampton.

In total, the Egyptian forward will earn 15 points [including bonus points] for 72 percent of FPL users this weekend, which takes his season total to a quite remarkable 306.

And that figure means Salah has overtaken his previous high of 303 points – a record he set during his debut season at Liverpool in 2017/18.

In fact, the 32-year-old is the only person in Fantasy Premier League history to have amassed more than 300 points in a single campaign, with Luis Suarez being his closest rival on 295.

So how many points could Salah end with come May 25? If he maintains his current average of 10.6 points per match, then the experienced forward would reach a total of 401 points.

Liverpool’s remaining fixtures include Everton, Fulham, West Ham, Leicester City, Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal, Brighton and Crystal Palace.

As per the Premier League website, Salah earned 98 points in the reverse fixtures against his remaining opponents this season, so the 400-mark is definitely a possibility given his form.

Here’s how fans on social media reacted to Salah breaking his own FPL record.

One said: “There’s still half of March, April and May to go,” while another commented: “FPL Heritage. There will never be another like him.”

A third wrote: “I haven’t touched my FPL since January but my Salah captaincy has been saving me.”

A fourth said: “303 pts already in GW28, he might even break 400 pts this season,” and a fifth added: “He is on absolutely fire this season. King of FPL for a reason.”

It has been a campaign to remember for Salah, who has been involved in 44 Premier League goals so far this season (27 goals, 17 assists), which is the joint-most by a player in a 38-game season.

Where does Salah rank when it comes to Premier League greats? Is he in the top five? Let us know in the comments.
