Mohamed Salah has spoken to Liverpool favourite over future as he suggests what happens next

Mohamed Salah has no desire to leave Anfield, despite his recent criticism of Liverpool and head coach Arne Slot, it has been claimed. The forward expressed his frustration in a fiery post-match interview following Liverpool’s 3-3 draw with Leeds United on Saturday.

Salah felt he had been “thrown under the bus” after being benched for the past three matches, which resulted in his omission from the squad for Tuesday’s Champions Leagueclash against Inter Milan. Jamie Carragher did not hold back in his response to Salah’s remarks.

On Sky Sports‘ Monday Night Football, Carragher labelled Salah a “disgrace”, accusing him and his agent of orchestrating the situation to cause maximum disruption. Despite the controversy, Liverpool managed to pull off an impressive 1-0 victory over Inter at San Siro.

Dominik Szoboszlai was the hero of the night, scoring a second-half penalty to secure only their second win in seven games. Following Liverpool’s triumph over Inter, Daniel Sturridge offered his perspective on the Salah saga.

Sturridge revealed that he had spoken to Salah, who confirmed his intention to remain on Merseyside. The former Liverpool striker said on Amazon Prime Video: “He is going to be watching at home wishing he was here, wishing he could have helped the team.

“In the moment, there is a level of reflection, because it is so raw now, and it is so fresh, it is hard to reflect on the situation. We are in it; we have all been through ups and downs.

I think for Mo right now, I think he wants to help the team get back to where they have been, which was at the top. I think watching what’s happened, you want to be part of it.

“You’re at home, you’re sat there. This goes for players who are injured and players who are in this situation.

“The last thing you want to do is not be part of it. I think that is, of course, going to hurt him because he knows.

“He loves playing for this club, I know this. Mo has told me, ‘I love this football club. I don’t want to leave this club. This is where I want to be.’

“He wants to be a Liverpool player, but he wants to play.

“I think they will have a conversation. I can’t speak for Mo, and what he is going to do, I don’t know how he is going to feel, but I think there needs to be another conversation between the manager and Mohamed Salah.”

Sturridge further suggested that Salah would be open to a chat with Slot. He added: “I assume, knowing Mo, he’d be happy to have that conversation, and hopefully the situation gets resolved in a positive way.”

At this point, it remains uncertain whether Salah will join the Liverpool squad for their Premier League match against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday. However, after the Reds face-off with the Seagulls, he is set to fly off to participate in the Africa Cup of Nations representing Egypt.
