Liverpool’s impressive start to the Premier League season has come to an end at the hands of Nottingham Forest.
The Reds won the opening three matches of their campaign, but they failed to get the better of a team that executed their game brilliantly. Liverpool’s players were frustrated by Forest, who then made the most of a counter to get the only goal of the game.
Callum Hudson-Odoi grabbed the winner for the visiting Reds in the 72nd minute, cutting in off the left flank and curling a great effort in off the post.Don Hutchison provided a scathing criticism of numerous Liverpool players after the game in an X post which also praised some of Forest’s men.
Mohamed Salah among Liverpool players slated by Don HutchisonHutchison said Ibrahima Konate made too many fouls, Trent Alexander-Arnold wasted his passes, and £34million talisman Mohamed Salah gave the ball away far too often.
The former Liverpool ace also said the midfield three of Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister was “average today”. In addition, Hutchison said all five of the hosts’ substitutions – Darwin Nunez, Curtis Jones, Cody Gakpo, Kostas Tsimikas and Conor Bradley – offered “nothing”.
What did Slot do wrong?
The new Liverpool manager’s game management wasn’t great, and the substitutions he made disrupted the Reds’ rhythm. On the hour, Slot took off his best player in Alexis Mac Allister, as well as Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz, a call which proved disastrous. The manager also moved to a back-three late on but it only served to invite more Forest pressure. All lin all, Slot has some work to do.
What next for Liverpool? The Reds are next in action on Tuesday night when they head to AC Milan in the Champions League.Liverpool then return to Premier League action on Saturday when they host Bournemouth at Anfield.
