Official: FA charge Arne Slot and Sipke Hulshoff after Merseyside derby

Written by admin

The Football Association (FA) have charged Liverpool, Everton, and managers Arne Slot and Sipke Hulshoff following a post-match fracas after the 2-2 draw on February 12th.

The incident began when Abdoulaye Doucoure celebrated in front of the Liverpool fans, provoking Curtis Jones and leading to a scuffle.

The FA charged both clubs for ‘failing to control their players’, with potential fines similar to those imposed on Nottingham Forest (£125,000) and Chelsea (£40,000) earlier this season.

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot and assistant Sipke Hulshoff were both shown red cards by referee Michael Oliver during the chaos. Slot allegedly using insulting or abusive language towards both the match referee and an assistant referee.

However, both have the option to appeal, meaning they are permitted to be in the dugout for Liverpool’s upcoming Premier League match against Wolverhampton at Anfield on Sunday, February 16th.

Both clubs and coaches have until February 19th to respond to the charges.
