Liverpool bounced back from Saturday’s disappointing defeat to Nottingham Forest to grab a big win in Milan.
The Reds badly needed to show a response following the shock loss against Forest and duly did so, beating AC Milan 3-1.
It was not a win without its problems. Liverpool fell behind early on after Christian Pulisic hit the front for Paulo Fonseca’s side.
However, the Reds came back in impressive fashion. Goals from Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk put the Reds ahead at half-time, before Dominik Szoboszlai killed the game with a third after the break. There were so many good performers throughout the XI for Liverpool and commentating on the game at San Siro, Alan Shearer named his man of the match.
Alan Shearer blown away by Dominik SzoboszlaiUp until Tuesday, the only players to score for Liverpool this season were Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah. As a result, it was nice to see three different players get on the score sheet for the Reds.
Konate grabbed his first goal for almost two-and-a-half years, Van Dijk got his customary goal from a corner and Szoboszlai weighed in with a good finish.Szoboszlai has changed his position a little this season, with the Hungarian now a little more advance than usual.
And according to Shearer, the Liverpool midfielder was the man who put the Reds on his back to fight for the win at San Siro. Commentating for Amazon Prime, the former England striker claimed that Szoboszlai had been ‘everywhere’“Szoboszlai has been the pick of the bunch for me, he’s been everywhere,” said Shearer.“Got his goal. His team needed him and he’s done that, given them great energy, played on the front foot. Very, very good.
Dominik Szoboszlai turns up for LiverpoolSzoboszlai has had a really good start to the season for Liverpool. Slot called on the 23-year-old to get more goals and assists and he even turned up with that on Tuesday.
But it wasn’t just in the final third that Szoboszlai impressed against Milan. The Hungary captain really was everywhere. As Milan players tired as the game went on, Szoboszlai continued bursting forward with purpose.
After a bit of an underwhelming end to his first season at Anfield, the onus has been on the Reds No.8 to step up this term.So far, despite a little blip on Saturday, Szoboszlai has been doing that
