Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand does not think the Gunners can go the distance in this season’s title race and has named the two games he think they will lose the title race.
He has pointed out the two fixtures that he feel will cost Arsenal the English Premier League title and both are against fierce rivals.
With 7 league games to play, it is the Gunners who sit top of the table, level on points with second-placed Liverpool but ahead on goal difference.
Things are tight in this three-horse title race, with reigning champions Man City one point behind both in third.
Though it is Arteta’s men who are in the driving seat as things stand, Rio Ferdinand thinks the Gunners will suffer two more defeats before the season’s end, costing them the title in the process.
At this stage of the campaign, dropped points of any kind could prove fatal to a title charge.
While predicting the remainder of the Gunners run-in for TNT Sport, Ferdinand tipped Arsenal to lose 2-1 away to their north London rivals Spurs before falling to another defeat against United in the decisive game of the campaign.
The ex-Red Devil thinks Erik ten Hag’s side will run out 3-2 winners against Arteta’s men. After predicting the rest of the games for their title rivals, if the season ends up as Ferdinand thinks it might Arsenal will be second on 86 points.
Liverpool will end up third on the same amount, but with an inferior goal difference leaving Pep Guardiola’s team as champions for the fourth time in a row.
From Arteta’s perspective, his full focus will be on the next game, which comes on Sunday afternoon against Aston Villa at the Emirates.
Arsenal play after both City and Liverpool as the last game of the weekend, but the Gunners boss wasn’t interested in giving that too much weight.
