Superb’: Gary Lineker names Liverpool duo already impressing under Arne Slot after win over Brentford

Written by admin

Arne Slot began life at home as Liverpool manager with a comfortable 2-0 win over Brentford on Sunday at Anfield.

Liverpool beat Ipswich Town for their opening Premier League match of the new season and the early signs were positive then. And in front of his supporters, Slot has made a ‘pretty impressive’ start, according to Gary Lineker, with Liverpool and Arsenal the only teams yet to concede after two matches.

Only four teams have made 100% starts, with Arsenal’s win over Aston Villa perhaps being the statement game and result of the weekend.Under Jurgen Klopp, the Reds were aggressive, in your face and 100 miles per hour. It resulted in success across the board for the legendary German.

But under their new manager, Liverpool seem to be far more relaxed, controlled and less aggressive, all whilst maintaining that ruthless threat in the final third.

Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah were the goalscorers against Brentford, with the opening goal coming after 13 minutes following a rapid counter-attack.

The Merseyside giants then had to wait until the 70 minute for Salah to score in back-to-back matches, with Lineker stating that the Egyptian looks ‘sharp’ and how his team should have scored more.

Another player who Lineker thinks is already impressing under Slot is Trent Alexander-Arnold and he was dubbed ‘superb’ for his display, as he told the Rest is Football.

It’s early days, but Liverpool fans should be quietly happy with what they are seeing from their new manager because it’s never easy settling in so quickly and with such an impact.Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah praised“I thought they were pretty impressive,” said Lineker about Liverpool’s performance.

They could have scored a lot more goals. I thought, once again, like last week. Trent Alexander-Arnold was superb. Mo Salah is looking sharp. A good start for Arne Slot.“They were very dominant throughout. They had lots of chances. The goalkeeper (Brentford’s Mark Flekken) played well.

Liverpool’s out-of-contract players

Liverpool fans will be rightfully screaming at their club to hand the likes of Alexander-Arnold and Salah new deals – both are out of contract next summer.Salah has admirers in Saudi Arabia, whilst Alexander-Arnold has been linked with Real Madrid and the worst-case scenario could happen.

If those two, along with captain Virgil van Dijk, head for the exit door next summer, then you have to question the club’s call and decision-making.In truth, Liverpool shouldn’t be in a situation where three of their most important players are in such a position because that is very poor management.
