Just six minutes separated the final whistle at Arsenal and Mohamed Salah’s social media upload featuring Darwin Nunez.
Mohamed Salah wasted little time indulging in Liverpool’s latest victory as he posed with match-winner Darwin Nunez after Brentford were beaten 2-0 on Saturday afternoon. Nunez, who was a second-half substitute at the Gtech Stadium, scored in the 91st and 93rd minutes for the Reds as they went seven points clear of Arsenal before their own 2-2 draw with Aston Villa at the Emirates on Saturday evening.

After goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz gave the Gunners a healthy lead, the visiting Villa responded through Ollie Watkins and Youri Tielemans in the second half to earn a share of the spoils and give Liverpool a further boost in their Premier League title quest.
Just six minutes separated the full-time whistle in north London and Salah’s social media upload with Nunez, which featured the pair in good spirits ahead of their flight back to Merseyside without a caption.
Supporters inevitably speculated as to the timing of Salah’s post, given it was published so soon after a damaging draw for the Reds’ title rivals, with many believing there was a mischievous nature behind the image.
How much of it was intended as a gentle rib in Arsenal’s direction, however, only the 21-goal top scorer will know, but the Egypt captain has used his social platforms to be both outspoken and cryptic at times this term.
Earlier this month he told Jamie Carragher: “I’m starting to think you’re obsessed with me”, followed by a winking emoji after the Reds legend analysed the forward’s contract situation at Anfield on Sky Sports, while an image of Salah alongside Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, that was taken during the recent 2-2 draw with Manchester United, was interpreted as a subtle nod to the trio’s ongoing impasses over their respective deals.
In November, following victory over Brighton where Salah scored the winning goal, he posted: “Top of the table is where this club belongs. Nothing less. All teams win matches but there’s only 1 champion in the end. That’s what we want. Thank you for your support last night. No matter what happens, I will never forget what scoring at Anfield feels like.”
Liverpool’s own victory on the day was an important one for Arne Slot’s leaders, who now stand six clear of Mikel Arteta’s men with a game in hand to be played at Everton next month.
Nunez scored his first in stoppage time from close range after a low ball into the box by Alexander-Arnold before the Uruguay striker fired home a second shortly after following good work from fellow sub Harvey Elliott.
Next up for the league leaders is a visit from Ligue 1 side Lille in the Champions League before domestic action resumes against Ipswich Town next Saturday afternoon.
