Eagle-eyed Liverpool fans were quick to spot what Trent Alexander-Arnold did moments after the Reds were crowned as the 2024/25 Premier League champions.
The full-back made his first start in front of an Anfield crowd since rumours of an agreed deal to sign for Real Madrid picked up steam back in March.
Despite this, the Liverpudlian was serenaded by the Kop after the 5-1 drubbing of Tottenham, as he celebrated with fans after winning his second league title for his boyhood club. However, fans watching from home noticed one thing that the defender did during the celebrations that could indicate where his future lies beyond this season.
As the players celebrated on the pitch, the speakers at Anfield blasted out Dua Lipa’s hit ‘One Kiss’ before playing the famous ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone.’ As the players lined up side by side, fans inside the stadium serenaded them with an impassioned rendition of the chant, with some of the squad also joining in with the singing.
However, when cameras panned to Alexander-Arnold, who has been at and supported Liverpool since he was a child, he wasn’t in full voice like some of his teammates. Instead, he remained silent, watching on as supporters continued to belt out the lyrics to the 1963 Gerry & the Pacemakers cover of the 1945 musical hit.
While this may well have been a case of Alexander-Arnold wanting to take in the admittedly electric atmosphere, many online have jumped to the conclusion that his actions all but confirm that the defender will leave at the end of his contract, which expires in the summer.
“Trent not singing YNWA? Yeah, the boy’s gone,” stated one fan, while another added, “Trent not singing. I know what you are.”
A third said, “Trent didn’t sing,” accompanied by a sad emoji, while a fourth put down any chance of the defender staying as they hit back saying, “Trent the only one not singing and there are people who think he’s staying.”
