Jota died in a car crash in Spain earlier this month. His brother Andre Silva, who was also a professional footballer, also lost his life.

Just days before his death, he married his long-term partner Rute Cardoso.
Jota proposed to Rute back in July 2022 before tying the knot on June 22, 2025.
He shared a post of their wedding day, which emerged following his death.
Rute has taken to social media to mark the one-month anniversary of their wedding.
She shared several photos from their wedding, accompanied with the caption: “1 month [since we said], ‘Until death do us part’. For ever, Your [bride].”
