Stefan Bajcetić has been linked with a move away from Liverpool this summer.
The 21-year-old remains highly regarded at Anfield, but persistent injury problems have prevented him from establishing himself as a regular first-team player. With game time essential for his development and Liverpool unable to guarantee it, a departure now makes sense for all parties.
Spanish side Getafe have emerged as a willing destination. According to Fabrizio Romano, the club have already “opened talks” with Liverpool, and “a formula is being discussed” that could suit everyone involved.
Bajcetić can operate as a defensive midfielder or deep-lying central midfielder. At Getafe he would offer defensive cover, composure on the ball and technical quality in the middle of the pitch. There is little doubt he is a significant talent with a bright future — provided he can overcome his injury issues.
For Liverpool, a sale would free up space and funds to strengthen the defensive midfield position they still need to reinforce. Selling now, while he has two years left on his contract (until 2027), also avoids the risk of losing him for nothing further down the line.
Getafe, meanwhile, will hope to secure a bargain for a player with considerable upside. Bajcetić will be keen to resolve his future quickly so he can concentrate on getting back on the pitch and fulfilling his potential away from Anfield.
