Liverpool close in on PSG starlet Ibrahim Mbaye after personal terms agreed
Liverpool have taken a major step towards signing Paris Saint-Germain’s highly rated 18-year-old attacker Ibrahim Mbaye, with the two parties agreeing personal terms on a five-year contract.
According to RMC Sport’s Fabrice Hawkins, Mbaye has made his choice clear: he wants Liverpool and is no longer interested in pursuing interest from Bayer Leverkusen. “Liverpool have reached an agreement with Ibrahim Mbaye. The two parties have agreed on the financial terms of a five-year contract. Mbaye has made his choice and does not wish to pursue interest from Bayer Leverkusen,” Hawkins reported.
The Senegal international has struggled for consistent minutes at PSG and needs a move to accelerate his development. Liverpool, short of quality and depth on the flanks following Mohamed Salah’s departure and with Cody Gakpo linked with a possible exit, view the explosive, pacy winger as an excellent long-term investment. He offers flair, directness and goal threat in the final third — attributes that should translate well to the Premier League.
Attention now turns to negotiations with PSG. While personal terms are sorted, a fee still needs to be agreed. Liverpool are also pushing for a deal for Mbaye’s team-mate Bradley Barcola, raising the possibility of a double swoop from the French champions. Securing both would significantly strengthen the wide areas and give the squad greater creativity and competition.
Mbaye is regarded as one of Europe’s most promising young attackers. If Liverpool can finalise terms with PSG, they will land a player with the potential to develop into a key figure at Anfield for years to come. The Reds will want to move quickly before the window closes.
