Alexis Mac Allister has no intention of leaving Liverpool. His father, Carlos, has confirmed that the Argentina international remains fully committed to his future at Anfield.
The midfielder has been linked with several elite clubs this summer, including Manchester City and Real Madrid. Yet his camp has now drawn a clear line under the speculation.
Despite Liverpool yet to open formal talks over a new contract, Mac Allister’s preference is to stay and continue contributing to the project at Anfield.
Mac Allister wants to stay at Liverpool
Speaking to WinWin, and as reported by Fabrizio Romano, Carlos Mac Allister was unequivocal:
“Alexis is not thinking of leaving Liverpool. He wants to stay at the club.”
He added: “Liverpool has not started talks to renew Alexis’s contract, but the player’s desire is to continue at the club.”
The comments arrive amid renewed reports of Manchester City’s interest. This Is Anfield noted that City had explored Mac Allister as a potential alternative to Chelsea’s Enzo Fernández, while Real Madrid have also monitored his situation. Liverpool have consistently resisted any approaches. Earlier reports from TEAMtalk indicated that Mac Allister and his representatives had already rebuffed interest from several clubs precisely because the player wanted to remain at Anfield.
Liverpool should move quickly on a new deal
Mac Allister’s stance is clearly positive for Liverpool. At the same time, the contract situation should not be allowed to drift.
The 27-year-old remains one of the squad’s most technically accomplished midfielders. Prolonged uncertainty only invites further interest from rivals. With his current deal moving closer to its final stages, the club would be wise to begin renewal discussions sooner rather than later.
Mac Allister may have experienced an inconsistent 2025-26 campaign, but his core qualities are unchanged: the ability to dictate possession, operate under pressure, and fill multiple midfield roles effectively. Most importantly, he wants to stay.
That gives Liverpool a strong foundation for negotiations. If the coaching staff still regard him as a central part of the team, securing his long-term future now would eliminate unnecessary speculation and protect the player’s value
