Liverpool could reportedly make a surprise move to bring former academy midfielder Tyler Morton back to Anfield, just over a year after allowing him to leave the club.
The 23-year-old midfielder has caught the attention of several Premier League clubs following an impressive spell with French side Lyon, with his development in Ligue 1 reportedly putting him back on Liverpool’s radar.
Liverpool Monitoring Morton Again
Morton left Liverpool in the summer of 2025 in a deal worth around £15 million, bringing an end to his long association with the Reds.
However, his performances since moving to France appear to have changed the picture.
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Liverpool are among several Premier League clubs monitoring Morton ahead of the January transfer window.
The Reds are reportedly joined in the race by Newcastle United, Sunderland and Everton, while Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace and Brighton have also previously shown an interest in the midfielder.
That means Liverpool could face significant competition if they decide to turn their interest into a formal offer.
Morton Has Continued to Develop
Morton was regarded as one of the promising products of Liverpool’s academy before eventually deciding to pursue regular first-team football elsewhere.

Interestingly, Liverpool reportedly negotiated a 20 per cent sell-on clause when Morton joined Lyon.
