Alexis Mac Allister has offered a fresh update on his Liverpool future, admitting that the decision over a new contract rests with the club as uncertainty continues to surround his long-term plans at Anfield.
The Argentine midfielder remains an important figure for Liverpool, but his latest comments have raised further questions about whether he will commit his future to the Merseyside club.
With Real Madrid and several other European giants reportedly monitoring his situation, Liverpool could face an important decision over one of their key midfielders.
Mac Allister Speaks Out on Liverpool Contract Situation
Mac Allister has clarified his position regarding the ongoing uncertainty surrounding his contract negotiations with Liverpool.
Speaking about his previous comments, the 27-year-old explained that his remarks were influenced by his emotions and personal feelings.
“When I said what I said, it was more emotion and my feelings,” Mac Allister said, according to quotes shared by Fabrizio Romano.
The midfielder also acknowledged that Liverpool have the final say over whether discussions about a contract extension move forward.
“It’s their decision and that’s fine for me. I will try my best in the games and in training,” he added.
His comments suggest that he intends to remain fully committed to Liverpool on the pitch, despite the uncertainty surrounding his future.
However, his remarks do not confirm that he wants to leave Anfield or that a departure is inevitable.
Why Mac Allister’s Liverpool Future Is Uncertain
Questions about Mac Allister’s future emerged earlier this season when he expressed disappointment over the lack of progress on a new contract.
With his existing deal reportedly entering its final two years, the midfielder was said to be unhappy that renewal discussions had not advanced, particularly after teammates Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch secured improved terms.
Mac Allister had also indicated that leaving Liverpool was a possibility during the summer transfer window before deciding to stay and continue giving his best for the club.
His latest comments have therefore brought the contract situation back into focus, although there has been no confirmation that Liverpool have decided to sell him.
For the Reds, finding a resolution could be important as they look to retain the quality and experience within their midfield.
Real Madrid and Chelsea Monitoring Mac Allister
Mac Allister’s contract situation is attracting attention from several major European clubs.
Real Madrid have been linked with an interest in the World Cup winner, with reports suggesting the Spanish giants could consider an approach if Liverpool fail to agree on a new deal.
Chelsea have also been linked with the midfielder, while Manchester United and Manchester City have previously been mentioned in reports surrounding his future.
Nevertheless, reported interest does not mean that any of these clubs have submitted an official offer.
Liverpool will likely want to avoid losing a player of Mac Allister’s quality without having control over the timing of his departure.
Mac Allister’s Performances Could Strengthen Liverpool’s Position
The Argentine has continued to demonstrate his importance to Liverpool with his performances in midfield.
He recently scored twice against Villarreal in the Champions League, further highlighting his attacking contribution and ability to influence important matches.
His form makes the contract situation particularly significant for Liverpool, especially if interest from abroad continues to grow.
For now, Mac Allister appears focused on helping the team rather than allowing speculation about his future to distract him.
Liverpool fans will be hoping the club and the midfielder can find an agreement that keeps him at Anfield for the long term. Until an official announcement is made, however, his future remains uncertain.
