
Former Liverpool star Glenn Hysen has shared his disappointment at Alexander Isak again being struck down by injury after the Reds striker withdrew from the Sweden squad. The 27-year-old has enjoyed an eye-catching start to the season, scoring four goals from the first five Premier League games of the campaign before also netting in Sweden’s Nations League opener against Romania.
However, the striker suffered an injury in the same game which forced him to withdraw from the group.Sweden boss Graham Potter later revealed Isak was suffering with a thigh issue, while Liverpool confirmed in a statement that he had returned to Merseyside because of a ‘minor injury’ and would now receive further medical assessment back at the AXA Training Centre.READ MORE: John W. However, following an encouraging World Cup with Sweden, he had returned to form under new head coach Andoni Iraola.With Isak’s injury said to be only minor, it remains to be seen if he will be fit for Liverpool’s return to club action against Man City on Sunday 11 October.But former Reds title-winner Hysen has voiced his sympathy for his compatriot after the untimely setback, as he warned against risking further injury.
