Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has been fined £8,000 by the Football Association for misconduct following the Reds’ 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest.
The Brazilian accepted a charge of acting in an improper manner near the tunnel area after the final whistle. The FA confirmed the standard penalty on Thursday.
The incident occurred after Alisson conceded a penalty for a foul on Neco Williams — a decision the Premier League’s Key Match Incidents Panel has since ruled incorrect. Frustrated by the call and the result, he struck the fourth official’s numbers board on his way back to the dressing room.
That same board had malfunctioned earlier in the match, delaying a triple substitution requested by Forest manager Andoni Iraola and drawing visible irritation from the Basque coach.
The fine is modest relative to a Premier League goalkeeper’s wages. Players are expected to meet behavioural standards, yet the context — a clear refereeing error later acknowledged by the authorities — makes Alisson’s reaction understandable in the heat of the moment.
He will now turn his attention to Liverpool’s next fixture against Fulham.
