Bournemouth have slapped a staggering valuation on rising star Eli Junior Kroupi, with Premier League heavyweights Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool, alongside French giants Paris Saint-Germain, all linked with the teenage forward ahead of the summer transfer window.
The French youngster has enjoyed a meteoric rise since his £10 million arrival from Lorient last summer, netting an impressive 13 goals in his debut season in English football. His performances have understandably sparked widespread interest, with reports suggesting PSG are particularly keen to bring the young talent back to Ligue 1 to strengthen their attacking options.
The situation has taken a dramatic twist following Andoni Iraola’s move from Dean Court to Anfield last week. With the Spaniard now at the helm of Liverpool, speculation has intensified that the new Reds boss may look to reunite with the player he helped develop. However, Iraola has moved quickly to dampen such talk, making it clear he believes Kroupi’s future remains on the south coast — at least for now.
In comments made back in April, Iraola was full of praise for the teenager while underlining the importance of patience in his development.
“Junior has been a big challenge for me this season, one of the biggest challenges because we noticed straightaway that he has special things,” Iraola said.
“His finishing is top for me. But we had to work a lot with him and, especially, he has had to do a lot of work that he wasn’t used to win his minutes. He has become a much better player for me.”
The Bournemouth manager — now Liverpool manager — highlighted Kroupi’s evolution beyond just goals, noting significant improvements in his overall contribution, particularly his work rate that has allowed the Cherries to field more attacking line-ups without becoming defensively fragile.
“He’s still very young and has just arrived into the Premier League and it’s his first season. For sure, I think he will play even more minutes next season and will continue evolving,” Iraola added.
The message from Iraola is unambiguous: despite the inevitable interest from top clubs, the south coast remains the ideal environment for the youngster to keep progressing.
Any club hoping to prise Kroupi away from Bournemouth, however, will face a significant financial hurdle. French outlet Foot Mercato previously reported that the Cherries were demanding around £86 million (€100 million), while The i Paper has since claimed the asking price has climbed even higher — in excess of £100 million. The valuation appears designed to deter all but the most determined suitors.
