Cody Gakpo is “first choice” target for Spurs but they also like Ferran Torres

Tottenham eye Gakpo as priority target with Torres and Savinho also on radar

Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring several attacking options this summer, with Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo emerging as their leading target, according to reports.

Indy Kaila has claimed that Spurs view the Netherlands international as their first-choice option, while Barcelona’s Ferran Torres remains on the shortlist amid uncertainty over his long-term future at the club. Torres, who scored the winning goal for Spain in this summer’s World Cup final, has previously been linked with a move and is also said to interest Aston Villa.

Gakpo’s status as a key player at Liverpool is likely to make any deal complicated. Torres, meanwhile, has other potential suitors and may be reluctant to join a side that will not be playing in European competition next season.

Tottenham’s interest in a similar profile of player has been reinforced by Fabrizio Romano, who reported that Brazilian winger Savinho is still considered a top priority. The Manchester City forward is keen on the move and talks have been ongoing since June, though any transfer will depend on City’s willingness to sell a player currently low in their pecking order.

Spurs have already been active in the market under new manager Roberto De Zerbi, securing Premier League-proven additions in Mateus Fernandes, Sandro Tonali and Jan Paul van Hecke. After a difficult 2025-26 campaign that ended with a last-day survival battle, further attacking reinforcements are clearly viewed as essential.

Of the three names currently being linked, Savinho appears the most realistic. Gakpo would represent a significant step up in quality but a tougher negotiation, while Torres’ situation at Barcelona remains fluid.

Further developments are expected as the window progresses.
