Liverpool accept Inter Milan’s improved bid for Curtis Jones
Liverpool have accepted a formal offer from Inter Milan for midfielder Curtis Jones and given the player permission to travel to Italy for a medical.
Inter submitted a structured proposal worth up to €35 million (£30.7 million), consisting of a €30 million fixed fee plus €5 million in performance-related add-ons. The deal also includes a 10% sell-on clause for Liverpool on any future transfer. According to The Times’ Paul Joyce, the Italian club’s latest bid finally met Liverpool’s valuation after earlier approaches had been rejected.
Sky Sports Italy reporter Gianluca Di Marzio confirmed that documents have been exchanged and signed. Jones has agreed personal terms on a five-year contract running until 2031, worth €3.5 million net per season. He is expected to complete his medical in Milan in the coming days.
The 25-year-old academy graduate has made 228 senior appearances for Liverpool. Inter have pursued him throughout the summer window as they look to add technical quality and dynamism to their midfield.
Liverpool do not plan a panic replacement. Instead, highly-rated 19-year-old academy midfielder Trey Nyoni is expected to step into the squad role. Nyoni impressed during pre-season with his composure on the ball and tactical awareness, and the club view his promotion as a natural continuation of their pathway for young talent while securing a significant fee for a homegrown player.
