Liverpool’s interest in Real Madrid forward Endrick has hit a significant obstacle after the young Brazilian made clear his desire to remain at the Bernabeu, according to the latest reports.
On July 27, TEAMtalk transfer insider Graeme Bailey revealed that the Reds had Endrick on their radar. Bailey noted that the arrival of Yan Diomande at Real Madrid could have knock-on effects for the futures of Endrick, Arda Guler and Brahim Diaz. Liverpool have previously explored the situation surrounding the 20-year-old and continue to monitor developments closely.
At present, Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike are the recognised centre-forwards in Arne Slot’s squad. Ekitike, however, is not expected to return until the end of December after rupturing his Achilles tendon in April, leaving Liverpool short of recognised options through the first half of the campaign.
Endrick spent the second half of last season on loan at Lyon after struggling for regular minutes under then-Madrid manager Xabi Alonso in the opening months of the 2025/26 season. Kylian Mbappe remains the undisputed first-choice striker at the Spanish champions, who appointed Jose Mourinho as their new head coach earlier this summer.
While Gonzalo Garcia is departing for Fulham, Madrid have strengthened their forward line with the signing of Carlos Espi from Levante. Despite the competition for places and the clear need for consistent game time at this stage of his career, Endrick’s preference is to stay put.
Journalist Jorge C Picon confirmed the player’s stance on X at 10:14pm on July 30, stating simply: “Endrick’s intention is to stay at Real Madrid.”
The development leaves Liverpool still searching for solutions in attack, particularly on the right flank. Former Reds defender Jamie Carragher has weighed in on the club’s reported interest in Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola. Responding to a Sky Sports question about whether Barcola could replace Mohamed Salah, Carragher was blunt: “No he plays on the opposite flank! LFC currently have three players who could play from the left in Rio/Gakpo/Wirtz & no one who plays from the right.”
He later added: “Forgot Munoz as well!!!!!!”
When a supporter suggested Rio Ngumoha could shift to the right, with Florian Wirtz operating as a No 10 and Cody Gakpo providing rotation, Carragher remained unconvinced. “Well Rio has always played from the left so that’s obviously his best position, Gakpo should move really but who knows, I’m interested to see where Wirtz plays, if he’s 10 Dom [Szoboszlai] plays CM. I’m not sure about that. Need a right winger desperately!”
